VSA · Virtual Storage Architecture

The heart of the AI Habitat

GateStor's Virtual Storage Architecture manages storage, memory, protection, and clustering as one continuous operating environment — presenting your data as memory so AI can work against it in place. It's the bridge that brings the applications you run today into the same intelligence-ready environment as your AI workloads, without replacing them.

Virtual memory for the Intelligence Economy

Traditional RAID forces a choice between performance and resilience. VSA removes the tradeoff.

Conventional Storage

Layers, not systems

Disks, memory, and protection are treated as separate components, stitched together after the fact. Capacity and protection are fixed at configuration time — changing either means reconfiguration, or downtime.

VSA

One continuous space

Physical storage becomes a single logical pool of continuous virtual memory, governed by embedded software independent of host and drive technology. Capacity, protection, and mirroring shift dynamically — live, without hardware change.

01

Data as memory, not as files

Because VSA presents storage as continuous virtual memory, AI reads your data in place instead of copying it out.

VSA manages physical storage as one continuous pool of virtual memory, so an AI application can run inference directly against production data — and a data science team can build and train models from it — without an export step or a second copy. The data never has to leave to become useful to AI.

This comes from bus-level rather than network-level clustering: parallel asynchronous processing, elimination of unnecessary transfers, memory mapping, and optimized parity handling, delivered through PCIe and OmniBUS-based expansion across nodes. (Measured throughput is listed in the specifications above.)

Traditional to Habitat

Most enterprises won't transition to AI in one cutover. VSA was built for that reality.

The architecture virtualizes existing storage and brings traditional applications into the same intelligence-ready environment used by AI workloads — protected, modernized, and gradually repositioned, rather than replaced outright.

Habitat alignment

VSA does for storage what an operating system does for compute.

It abstracts the physical layer, manages policy dynamically, and presents a continuous environment that adapts without breaking what depends on it — evolutionary, composable, and built to absorb what comes next.

Not a storage appliance. The layer where your data becomes AI-native.

Running the SP7K with VSA composes the environment where AI systems, the applications you already run, and future workloads coexist on one platform — with your data live to AI in place, not copied out to reach it.
